FLOATING COTTAGE RENTALS

Keeping in tradition with our values of providing eco-tourism services, our brand new 12x20 cottage is powered by the sun. The off-grid building generates electricity from solar panels with the exception of the stove that is propane powered. The cottage has an open concept with a twin daybed on the main floor and queen size mattress in the loft. It is equipped with all the desired amenities including a bathroom with a regular size shower and an electric flushing toilet. The kitchen has a mini-fridge and a two cook top propane stove. There are plenty of large opening windows throughout the main space so you’ll have an excellent view of the water wherever you’re sitting. Outside, there’s a spacious covered front porch with bench seating and a swim ladder. Our floating cottage nicknamed “The Retreat” is more than a gimmicky place to sleep, it was designed and decorated to provide maximum relaxation and comfort. The space has soft warm lighting, original artwork, beautiful views from the windows or porch, an acoustic guitar, and a few other surprises for you to discover. Please note that you’ll need a USB charger for your devices as this has 12v power and USB outlets for charging all your devices. The cottage isn’t attached to a dock in a backyard, this is actually floating in a calm inlet of the Atlantic ocean just 150 metres from Lunenburg Kayak Rental and Floating Cottages private dock. Upon arrival you’ll be ferried from the dock to the cottage with your luggage if you desire, or you can take your own row boat/kayak/canoe that comes included with the rental. Either way, you’ll have a boat that’s ties to the front porch of the floating cottage to use as your transportation back and forth to the dock for the duration of your stay. With just a ten minute row, you can travel back and forth from the floating cottage to the dock/parking lot whenever you’d like. Your boat can be used to do some sightseeing around the bay as well. In fact, there’s a map and list of cool places you’d love to see just sitting on the table of the floating cottage right now.

OUR LOCATION

We are located just a four minute drive from the heart of Lunenburg. Our cottage is nestled in calm waters where a trickling fresh waterfall meets a narrow and protected inlet of the beautiful Atlantic ocean. Our property stretches as far as you can see and holds as much beauty as the ocean views you’ll get from the cottage. In the fields beside our dock you’ll see grazing Norwegian horses, a swan pond, and even some wandering goats among other farm animals. The Sunnybrook Mill Market is just a stones throw from our dock and open all year round from10-5 pm every Saturday and Sunday. If you’re lucky enough to visit us on the weekend you’ll be able to check out some crafts or purchase locally grown food from the wonderful owners Royal & Karen. The Hungry Traveller Cafe is located just a five minute walk and has professionally trained staff serving delicious meals as well as take away baked goods. Surrounding the floating cottage are the most picturesque views of Lunenburg county shore, while still being close to land. This location was not chosen just for convenience, it was hand picked for its beauty and privacy.
